6-3 DECISION OPENS DOOR FOR OTHER STATES TO FOLLOW
"The burden of acquiring, possessing, and showing a free photo identification is simply not severe, because it does not 'even represent a significant increase over the usual burdens of voting,' "(Justice Antonin Scalia wrote, joined by Justices Samuel A. Alito Jr. and Clarence Thomas).
National Voters Alliance plans to launch a multimedia campaign in the first quarter of 2008 aimed at raising public awareness of potential illegal voting and voter fraud issues surrounding U.S. elections. The purpose of this campaign is to strengthen laws that preserve voting integrity and advocate a bipartisan effort to have Congress pass a "Voter Information and Protection Act" before the 2008 elections. This legislation will encourage responsible voting by federally requiring that polling sites post multi-lingual signs that provide the following information to voters:
Federal eligibility requirements to legally vote in U.S. elections;
Federal protections provided to every eligible voter to vote free of intimidation or interference; and,
Federal penalties and fines for persons and/or organizations that interfere with the voting process including direct or indirect facilitation of voter fraud and/or illegal voting by non-citizens in U.S. elections.
MISSION STATEMENT
There is no greater threat to the sovereignty of this nation than actions that may directly or indirectly threaten to undermine the integrity of U.S. elections. The quality and future of a representative government is at risk when safeguards fail to protect the process used to measure the will of the people and legitimate challenges cast doubt upon the quality and outcome of elections. A country founded on the sacrifice of many to defend the freedom given willingly to a representative government must take appropriate measures to safeguard a U.S. citizen's right to vote.
Elected leaders must protect the interests of those who choose to vote against efforts to dilute, offset or cancel their legal votes with ones that are illegal. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that the privilege of voting in U.S. elections be strictly reserved only for U.S. citizens who meet Federal eligibility requirements and that these citizens are not prevented from exercising this right, nor allowed to have their vote diluted from the failure to enforce laws intended to prevent voter fraud and illegal voting.
NationalVotersAlliance.org is dedicated to working to help preserve and protect the integrity of U.S. elections by raising public awareness of illegal voting and voter fraud issues and working to strengthen enforcement of laws meant to safeguard this privilege.
ILLEGAL VOTING:
HOW BAD IS IT?
6/1/06: Listen to Francine Busby Democrat congressional candidate in 50th Congressional District of California 4 days before the election:
"Everybody can help, yeah, absolutely, you can all help," Busby replied, according to the tape. "You don't need papers for voting, you don't need to be a registered voter to help."
